Gilston State School

Gilston State School is located in the Gold Coast hinterland. In response to advocacy from the local rural community, it opened in 1881. Today with approximately 600 students enrolled, care is taken to maintain the 'rural feel' that is rated by many as a prime reason for enrolment. Family values are the cornerstone of all aspects of the school and community participation is very high. We have a proud tradition of developing citizenship within our students that is recognised by the wider community.

Acknowledgement to Country
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the County on which we walk, live and learn. We recognise their long history on the land upon which our schools are build, and the care they gave to these lands for thousands of years. We pay our respect to their cultures and to Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continuing connection to the land, air and sea.
